Internet Collective Action is people organizing in a nonhierarchical manner to accomplish a particular goal. The reward is in the doing, and how much or how little anyone participates is completely voluntary, depending on their abilities and commitment to the goal. By this process amazing things can be accomplished. ICA will grow so long as the Internet is free. http://www.lisamcpherson.org/pc.htm is an example of ICA.

incorporating ICA into our economy
I've been pondering how all this collective action and volunteerism fits into the health of our economy. If people do even technical things like programming for free, what does that do to jobs for programmers? This video explains a bit of what's going on, and suggests that collective action be incorporated into business. I haven't digested this idea yet, but it's pretty interesting nonetheless...
